Yep, it’s right up there at the top of the priority list!

In another study 81% of employees reported feeling motivated to work harder when their boss shows appreciation for their work. Indeed, we now have a LOT of evidence demonstrating the link between recognition and employee engagement - and in turn, the resulting impact on retention, productivity, and performance.

For leaders, this makes it clear that recognition IS important, not just from a ‘feel good’ perspective, but also for the bottom line.

Recognition psychosocial risk

Inadequate reward & recognition has also been identified as a psychosocial hazard by Safe Work Australia.

In recent revisions to Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations in Australia, providing unfair or inadequate levels of reward and recognition has been identified as a potential risk to psychological well-being.

This isn't surprising given that employees who feel undervalued or underappreciated can experience a range of negative effects, including:

  • Decreased motivation

  • Decreased job satisfaction

  • Increased levels of anxiety and stress.

The good news? This program focuses on tools and frameworks that can be applied to improve recognition practices within teams and organisations.

Employee Recognition Workshops - What’s Covered?

Our basic, introductory workshop provides participants with the insights, tools and ‘know-how’ to deliver specific, meaningful and relevant pieces of positive and appreciative feedback.

It includes an exploration of the following topics, with scope to adjust the content to suit your audience.

  • Why does recognition & appreciation matter?

  • What gets in the way of managers providing meaningful recognition?

  • What are some common challenges? (practical & psychological barriers)

  • What does ‘good’ recognition look like?

  • What are some different ways to provide recognition? What role do individual differences play?

  • A simple step-by-step framework for providing recognition & appreciative feedback

  • An even more simple formula (i.e. recognition ‘on a page!’)

The program also includes…

  • Opportunities for reflection & skills practice with other participants (in longer sessions)

  • Access to a curated, targeted suite of additional reading, resources & insights

  • Structured conversation guides including the step-by-step process for crafting positive feedback

Structure & Format of the Manager Recognition Program

The workshop itself can be delivered as a 90-min, webinar-style session or a longer, more intimate 2-3 hour interactive workshop with lots of opportunities for reflection, discussion and skills practice. I’m an endorsed Organisational Psychologist with formal qualifications, including a Masters degree, and 20 years of experience as a consultant, coach, and facilitator. My work spans leadership development and capability, coaching, organisational development, neuroscience, positive psychology, employee motivation and performance, and behavioural change.

In the past 4–5 years alone, I’ve facilitated close to 300 295 workshops, leadership development programs, and group sessions. I bring both depth of expertise and a practical approach, with a focus on making skills and concepts easy to apply in real-world settings.

Delivery Options

Workshops can be delivered in person or online, depending on your preferences.
